NEW REPORT CONTENDS WOMEN HAVE REASONS TO FEAR FDA-APPROVED PRODUCTS

The Center for Justice and Democracy has issued a report that will resonate with American women, according to Kia Franklin , who discusses it today in Tort Deform . It is called “ THE BITTEREST PILL-How Drug Companies Fail to Protect Women and How Lawsuits Save Their Lives.” The report’s authors contend that there have been numerous instances in which FDA-approved drugs and medical devices that were targeted to women brought about some of the most devestating injuries, and deaths. Among the most salient points raised by the report is that in the wake of the carnage, the initiation of lawsuits alerted the public, thereby protecting other women. But the suits also prompted medical research, and change within the medical establishment.

As Kia Franklin points out, the report is particularly timely, since the U.S. Supreme Court will hear the Wyeth v. Levine case on Monday. Go to her post for access to the report in its entirety.
